AUSTRALIA’S BUSHFIRE WILDLIFE RELIEF, 2020$360 Raised For Australia’s “Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park” As Wildfires Rage OnThank you to those who donated to Bark-A-Bout’s Australian Bushfire Relief Fund, benefiting Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park! Kangaroo Island is a popular Australian tourist destination and wildlife park off of Australia’s southeast coast. It teams with such biodiversity, that the island has proudly gained itself the reputation as “Little Noah’s Ark”. Sadly, in recent weeks, Kangaroo Island has succumbed to massive bushfire damage, decimating over half of the 1,700-square-mile island. In the past week alone, raging bushfires have undone decades of careful conservation work on Kangaroo Island—and killed and displaced over 3 BILLION Australian-native animals. Tragically, Kangaroo Island is now black and smoldering—a grim scene closely resembling a true apocalypse. Burned animal carcasses litter the shoulders of roads that run across the island’s rugged landscape. |

What makes the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park’s lifesaving efforts so vital is that Kangaroo Island is the ONLY PLACE on the planet where the koala population is clean of widespread life-threatening chlamydia disease that has long threatened the koala species. Kangaroo Island was once considered the koala’s “insurance policy” against their extinction, and now 80% of their Kangaroo Island habitat has been decimated by these recent bushfires.
In a desperate search to save any surviving island wildlife, animal rescue teams have begun braving the elements to walk in human chains and search tree by tree for life. Please make a lifesaving donation here to Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park where your vital contribution will provide these emergency crew members and passionate animal caregivers with the funds they need to collect the surviving wildlife and purchase necessary medical supplies and food to nurse them back to health. Your donation may quite possibly save Australia’s remaining koala population from near extinction. |

The Source Newspaper: May 10, 2017
Bark-A-Bout Pet Activity Center & Resort, located on 23 Mile in Shelby Township, donated 17 Paw Patrol stuffed animals to the Shelby Township Fire and Police departments on May 3. The company, which tries to do a different fundraiser with a different cause about every month or so, raised $210 through its “Project Smile” fundraiser they did throughout March to purchase the stuffed animals for the two departments. First responders hand out stuffed animals to children who may be scared and need a friend to hold onto at the scenes of accidents or while emergency responders provide treatment. Shelby Township Fire Chief Jim Swinkowski said the stuffed animals bring a smile to children’s faces and is sure that they help get their mind off of what is going on sometimes. “Bark-A-Bout Pet Activity Center & Resort is always eager to support our community,” Michelle Nikiforuk, owner of Bark-A-Bout said. “Together with the generous donations of our customers throughout the month of March, Bark-A-Bout raised funds to purchase Paw Patrol stuffed animals.”
“Our local Shelby Township Police and Fire departments will give these Dalmatian firemen and German Shepherd police dog stuffed animals to scared children at the scene of accidents. This is an important way to add cheer and comfort to a youngster’s traumatic day and reaffirm that dogs truly are ‘man’s best friend.’”

BARK PINK: PITBULL & BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH FUNDRAISERT-Shirts & Washcloth Dogs Sold During October For “Pit Bull Awareness Month”Almost 2 million pit bulls reside in America. They are clearly the most frequently abused, tortured, abandoned and euthanized breed of dog in the United States. 1 in 4 dogs abandoned at shelters are pit bull mixes, and due to their over-sensationalized negative rap, they are the last to get adopted. So, for most pitties, their ride to a shelter is a one-way trip. Bark-A-Bout raised funds for “C.H.A.I.N.E.D. Inc“, a Metro-Detroit non-profit organization, who helps 24/7 chained dogs get off the chain, one dog at a time. By purchasing a “Washcloth Fundraiser Dog” in Bark-A-Bout’s Pet Boutique. $1 of its’ sale will go to C.H.A.I.N.E.D. Inc and help dogs in desperate need of assistance. “Bark Pink” T-shirts were sold for $19.99, and various Pink and Black chew toys (10% goes to C.H.A.I.N.E.D and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation). |
